A milestone birthday deserves better than a rented hall and a playlist. We’ve brought full casino setups, blackjack, poker, roulette, the works, into backyards, rec rooms, community halls, and rented venues across Metro Vancouver for birthday parties since 1998, and it remains one of our favourite event types precisely because there’s no boss in the room to impress. Just a group of friends, a professional dealer, and an excuse to stay up later than a Tuesday usually allows.
Why a Casino Theme Works for a Milestone Birthday
- Breaks the ice

Milestone birthdays have a specific problem a casino night solves well: the guest list usually spans decades of the birthday person’s life, college friends, coworkers, family, neighbours, kids, spouses and not everyone already knows each other.
A blackjack table gives strangers something to do together immediately, without needing an icebreaker game or a forced round of introductions. It also photographs well, which matters more than people admit. A table full of laughing guests holding cards makes for a far better party album than a buffet line.
Sizing It to Your Party
Most home and backyard birthday bookings run just 2 to 4 tables, enough for 20 to 50 guests to rotate through comfortably over a few hours, without needing a hall-sized floor plan.
If your celebration has outgrown a backyard, we also regularly set up in rented community halls and banquet rooms across Surrey, Langley, and Burnaby. Either way, we bring everything: tables, chips, cards, and a dealer who’ll teach anyone who’s never played before.
What a Birthday Booking Looks Like
We usually arrive an hour before guests do, to set up tables, chips and furniture. Dealers introduce the games to early arrivals in small groups so nobody feels put on the spot in front of a full room, and by the time the party is in full swing, most guests have already had a hand or two under their belt.
A typical booking runs three and a half hours of active play, and we handle teardown at the end of the night. Many hosts pair the casino with a photo booth or a DJ. Our More Event Services page covers those add-ons in more detail.
Home, Backyard, or Rented Hall
We get asked fairly often whether a home setup is actually feasible, and in most cases it is. A living room with the furniture pushed back, a garage, or a reasonably sized backyard patio all work fine for a few tables.
If your guest list has grown past what a home can comfortably hold, we set up just as often in rented community halls and banquet rooms, where the larger floor plan lets us run many tables without the room feeling cramped.
Birthday Party Casino Night FAQs
Do you set up in backyards and homes, not just venues?
Yes, most of our birthday bookings are exactly that. We just need a reasonably flat, covered space such as a patio, garage, or rec room, and standard household power access.
What age groups is this good for?
Birthday Party Casinos are great for all ages from young adults to grandparents (kids have also been known to enjoy playing games…)
How far ahead should we book a birthday party?
A few weeks’ notice is usually enough for a smaller home party, though popular weekend dates in the winter, especially around Christmas time can book up faster, so earlier is always safer if your date is fixed.
Can guests who've never gambled at all still join in?
Yes, that’s most of the guests at a typical birthday party, and it’s exactly what our dealers are there for. You can expect a friendly explanation of the rules at the table rather than being handed cards and left to figure it out.
