How Many Casino Tables for a Party?

    Your Simple Guide.

Casino Tables Set Up For Event Waiting For Guests To Arrive

Too few tables and guests wait in line. Too many and the room feels empty. The right number gets everyone playing, laughing and mingling all night.

The good news? Sizing a casino night is simple once you know the rule. Monte Carlo Nights has planned more than 1,500 casino events since 1998, and this is the same rule we use to size every one.

    The Quick Answer

Plan enough seats for 50% to 75% of your guests to play at once.

Not everyone plays at the same time. Some guests grab a drink. Some chat by the bar. Some watch the roulette wheel before they join in. So you don’t need a seat for every guest. You need enough seats that nobody waits long for a spot.

For a typical party of 100 guests, that works out to about 9 tables.

You may see advice online of 1 table per 20 guests. That’s only 5 tables for 100 people. We plan more on purpose. With too few tables, guests stand in line, get bored and drift away. More seats keep everyone in the game and the energy high.

How Many Players Fit At Each Table?

Each game seats a different number of players. How many seats are at a blackjack table? Seven. Here’s what every table holds, plus one dealer.

    • Blackjack = 7
    • Poker = 9
    • Roulette = 10
    • Craps = 10
    • Money Wheel = 10
    • Baccarat = 7

Suggested Table Counts By Guest Count

Use these guidelines as a starting point. Every event is a little different, so we fine-tune the mix with you when you get your free quote.

Most groups do well with mostly blackjack tables, a few poker tables, and one roulette table (or two for larger events). Craps and a money wheel come in less often, but we’ll add them when it fits.

The right mix really comes down to group size, how experienced your guests are with casino games, whether there’s other entertainment planned, and a few other factors.

A Real Example: A Casino Night For 100 Guests

Here’s the mix we suggest most often for 100 guests:

    • 5 Blackjack Tables – It’s an easy game for beginners and still fun for experienced players. It’s the backbone of most casino nights.
    • 2 Poker Tables – Guests play directly against each other, not the house. Great for friendly rivalries, not ideal if movement and mingling are the priority.
    • 1 Roulette Table – The centerpiece of the night, with a full-size, professional wheel. It’s also the go-to spot for guests to grab that perfect selfie.
    • 1 Craps Table – Loud, social and full of cheering and camaraderie.

That’s 9 tables, accommodating 73 guests at a time. The rest  usually mingle, eat, drink, watch and jump in when a seat opens up.

A casino package like this can range from $2,800 to $3,800, and includes delivery, setup, teardown, all the tables, chips, cards, equipment, professional dealers and a pit boss for 3.5 hours of playing time.

The price ranges depending on the location of your event and the time of year.

What Happens When The Casino Is Too Small?

It’s easy to think a few tables will do. Here’s what tends to happen when it doesn’t:

    • Lines Form – Guests stand around waiting instead of playing.
    • Some Guests Never Play – Shy or first-time players give up before they find a seat.
    • The Energy Drops – A casino night works because everyone gets involved. Long waits kill the buzz.
    • Guests Leave Early – Bored guests head home and give their chips to someone else and your event ends flat.
    • Guests Can’t Win – Some guests won’t get enough playtime to compete for the top-winner prizes.

Get the sizing right, and every guest gets a turn to play, the room stays lively all night and the energy carries through to when prizes are awarded.

How Much Space Do The Tables Need?

Allow about 10 ft x 10 ft per table. That covers the table, the players and the dealer. So a 9-table casino needs roughly 900 square feet of floor space.

Tables need no power, just good lighting so players can see the cards and chips. Most venues already have what you need, from ballrooms and banquet halls to clubhouses and offices. Your venue’s banquet manager can usually share a floor plan, and we can help with table placement.

    What About Cost?

The cost depends mostly on how big your casino is, the location and time of year. Every Monte Carlo Nights package is one all-inclusive price. It covers delivery, setup and teardown, all the tables, chips, cards and equipment, professional dealers, and a pit boss on larger events.

    Casino Table Package FAQs

How many casino tables do I need for a party?

Plan enough tables for 50% to 75% of your guests to play at once. For 100 guests, Monte Carlo Nights usually suggests 9 tables: 5 blackjack, 2 poker, 1 roulette and 1 craps. That seats 73 players at once, so about three out of four guests can play while the rest mingle and watch.

Monte Carlo Nights plans for 50% to 75% of guests playing at the same time. Some guests are always grabbing a drink, chatting or watching, so you don’t need a seat for everyone.

Monte Carlo Nights recommends about 10 ft x 10 ft per table. That leaves room for the table, the players and the dealer. A 9-table casino needs roughly 900 square feet.

Yes. If your party also has a photo booth, DJ or magician, Monte Carlo Nights can build a smaller casino. Aim for the lower end of the 50% to 75% range when other attractions share the room.

Blackjack is the easiest game for first-timers, and it’s still fun for experienced players. At every Monte Carlo Nights event, our dealers teach each game right at the table, so no experience is needed.
